NYC City Council Election District 41 & 42 Results

Bed-Stuy, Brownsville and East New York took to the polls on Tuesday. Here's what you need to know.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — New Yorkers took to the polls on Tuesday in the general election for citywide positions including mayor, comptroller and public advocate.

Bedford Stuyvesant, Brownsville and East New York residents also chose which city councilmembers should represent them next year.

In District 41 — which covers parts of Bed-Stuy and Brownsville — Democrat Alicka Ampry-Samuel won the race against Republican Berneda Jackson and Solutions Party candidate Christopher Carew.

In District 42 — which covers East New York — incumbent Inez Barron declared victory against Conservative Ernest Johnson and Reform Party candidate Mawuli K. Hormeku.

Democrat Bill de Blasio won the mayoral race against Republican Nicole Malliotakis and independents Bo Dietl and Sal Albanese.

The question of a New York State constitutional convention was also on the ballot and rejected by state voters.

Public Advocate Tish James won against Republican Juan Carlos Polanco, Michael O'Reilly and James Lane. Comptroller Scott Stringer is up against Republican Michael Faulkner, Julia Willebrand and Alex Merced.
