4-Year-Old Fatally Hit By Car On Bushwick Sidewalk, Cops Say

Luz Gonzalez was killed when a Nissan rammed into her outside a Bushwick laundromat parking lot Sunday afternoon, said police.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — A little girl is dead after she was hit by a car on a Bushwick sidewalk, police said.

A 2018 Nissan Rogue slammed into Luz Gonzalez, 4, and a 39-year-old woman near the corner of Wyckoff Avenue and Hart Street at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, police said.

The small girl's companion had knelt down beside her, near the Clean City Laundry Center parking lot, when the Nissan’s 38-year-old driver backed up, pulled forward and rammed into the woman and child, police said.

At first, the woman kept driving on Hart Street, but she stopped about one block later between Irving and Knickerbocker avenues, said police.

Medics rushed Gonzalez, who suffered severe trauma to her chest, to Wyckoff Hospital but doctors were unable to save her life. The 39-year-old was treated at the same hospital for cuts on her leg.

No arrests had been made as of Monday morning, said police.
