How The MTA Plans To Cope With The L Train Shutdown: More Buses, Ferries And Trains

Here's what your commute may look like during the Canarsie Tunnel shutdown.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — Buses and ferries will have to pick up the slack — or about 225,000 people — during the L train shutdown, according to a new MTA plan.

The MTA will shut down L train service between Brooklyn and Manhattan for 15 months, starting in April 2019, while the Canarsie Tunnel undergoes extensive repairs.

Commuters living in Williamsburg and Bushwick are going to need to find a new way to travel, which is why the MTA released a massive proposal to amp up ferry, bus and alternative train service.
