'Sounds Of The Americas' Concert Series Unveils Lineup For Downtown Brooklyn

The next concert is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 16.

BROOKLYN, NY — The Afro-Latino Festival NYC is launching a new outdoor music series celebrating the diverse rhythms and cultural traditions of the Americas.

"Sounds of The Americas at The Plaza," sponsored and hosted by Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, will take place Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Plaza at 300 Ashland this month.

The free series brings together musicians, DJs and cultural presenters representing sounds from across North, Central and South America.

Organizers say the series is designed to bring together neighborhood residents, after-work visitors, music lovers and anyone curious to experience the cultural sounds of the Americas.

Voter registration will also be available at each concert ahead of the November general election.

The series is supported by Two Trees Management Co. and Orange Barrel Media. Now in its 12th year, the Afro-Latino Festival has grown into a platform for local and international artists and audiences, featuring music, film, dance, panel discussions, culinary presentations and art installations.

Proceeds from the festival support the Afrolatin@ Project, Inc., including its oral history collection and preservation program and other community programming.
