Should We Let Our Children Play in the Toxic Red Hook Ball Fields?

Do you realize the extent of the toxic chemicals on these fields? If you have children....I hope you do.

For years I've played on the Red Hook fields....not concerned very much...until my child often wanted to play on them. I became worried that because of her young age she might experience some long-lasting effects.

Last year, the NY Post ran an article about the fields, saying they were "contaminated with PCBs at a level 110 times what New York environmental agencies consider safe."

I'm keeping the visits to a minimum these days and wondering how we can fix this. The least they (the city) can do is put up some warning signs letting people know of the dangers. This might cause some panic, but at least the community would be able to make up their own mind.
