Catania, A New Neighborhood Taste of Sicily
Less of a restaurant, and more of a "bar café," Catania recently opened on Atlantic Avenue.

Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill are home to wide variety of Italian eateries – think on Union Street, on Court Street, and course , also on Court Street.
Catania, which recently opened on Atlantic Avenue, aims to be the next great place with a twist, according to a profile in the Village Voice. Named after the city in Sicily, it’s less restaurant than it is a “bar café,” according to the owners. As they say, Sicilians go to restaurants in the late evening, but they will grab a snack at a bar café whenever.
The Village Voice rounds up some of the food at Catania’s, too – cheesy square pizza, caponata (eggplant, peppers and tomatoes), bastardi affogati (braised cauliflower), calzones, rice balls and penne arrabiata. Catania’s is BYOB, and according to the Voice, the plates are “smallish,” but that’s to be expected from a “snack shop.”
