Frankies New Manhattan Eatery Can’t Compare to Brooklyn

A scathing review of the new Frankies 570 in the West Village is a reminder that the best is in our neighborhood.

Bloomberg News’ food critic tried out Frankies 570 in the West Village, the Manhattan outpost to the original on Court Street – and nothing compares to the original, it seems.

“Stick with Carroll Gardens,” critic Ryan Sutton said, calling his pork dish “an arid, mealy chew,” and the rabbit liver terrine “rank.”

The new Hudson Street restaurant was busy and noisy, according to the review, which had a 90-minute wait for dinner.

Sutton reports that the octopus and squid dishes are satisfactory, he enjoyed the linguine with almond pesto, and that the braciola is “brilliant in Brooklyn, unreliable here.”

Sutton gave the new Frankies one star, and when asked if he’ll be back, answered: “To the Brooklyn flagship.”

“The food was simple and elegant,” Sifton remembers.
