Free Sunday Workshops for Grades 7 and Up at Beam Center
Beam Center's series of free workshops are an opportunity for teens and middle schoolers to investigate, make, and learn.
Beam Center is happy to continue our series of free Sunday workshops for grades 7 and up. Our Insight Into series of Sunday workshops are an opportunity for teens and middle schoolers to investigate, dive deep, make and learn. Students explore a world of new skills, from woodworking and textiles to moviemaking, digital media, and handcraft.
Join us at our new location at 60 Sackett Street in Brooklyn.
Workshops coming up in March include:
HORROR MOVIE GIFS
Sundays, March 1 & 8, 1-4pm
Jaimie Warren
Let’s act, film, make prosthetics, and do makeup and special effects to create our own B-horror movie gifs! We will choose our scenes, designate roles, and re-create content frame-for-frame while we discover how to make our own versions of movie effects with simple materials.
TEXTILE TECHNIQUES
Sundays, March 15, 22, & 29, 1-4pm

Fashionistas and wizards have more in common then one might realize. Capes and Cloaks are the best cold weather addition to any outfit. Working with personal iconography students with use a variety of textile and surface design techniques including immersion and rust dyeing, painting with thickened dyes, embroidery and applique to create their own mystical protective capes and cloaks.
