Happier Grocery Eyes Carroll Gardens For New Store

CARROLL GARDENS— A newly formed company tied to grocery retailer Happier Grocery has taken control of two properties in Carroll Gardens, raising the possibility of a new grocery destination in the neighborhood, according to New York City property and state business records.

Happier Grocery President LLC, which owns the properties at 295 President Street and 336 Union Street, was formed in Delaware in December 2025 and registered to do business in New York in June 2026.

The company has not publicly confirmed what it plans to build or operate at the properties.

Could This Become A Happier Grocery?

Happier Grocery operates a health-focused grocery and lifestyle business, with its flagship store at 365 Canal Street in SoHo. The store offers groceries, prepared food and other health and wellness products.

Happier Grocery has also advertised for a grocery buyer in New York, according to a current job listing, suggesting the company continues to build its grocery operations.

Happier Grocery President LLC and Three Sixty Five LLC, the company that bought the property at 365 Canal Street where Happier Grocery operates, both list 249 Smith Street, #140, in Brooklyn, in city property records.

What Could The Site Mean For Neighbors?

The properties sit near Smith and President streets, within walking distance of several other grocery stores, including Park Natural Foods and Union Market.

The recorded documents allow for construction and future commercial leases, but do not identify a final design, number of apartments, store size or future tenants.

The $5 million building loan indicates financing for construction or improvements, but the documents do not say what those improvements will be.

Happier Grocery President LLC did not respond to a request for comment.
