La Vara’s Jewish-Spanish Cuisine Coming Soon
The husband and wife duo behind El Quinto Pino and Txikito in Chelsea are expanding to Cobble Hill.
It’s now been confirmed that La Vara, a new Spanish restaurant (with a Jewish twist), will take over the space that once housed , according to Grubstreet.
La Vara will be helmed by husband and wife duo Alex Raij and Eder Montero, who run El Quinto Pino and Txikito in Chelsea. The menu at La Vara will be heavily Spanish inspired, but according to Grubstreet, will also take cues from “the Moorish and Jewish legacies in Spanish cuisine.”
On choosing Clinton Street in Cobble Hill, as opposed to a busier spot, Raij said to Grubstreet: “We wanted to go to a real neighborhood, not a commercial strip like Smith or Atlantic.”
