Learn How to Take Your Browntstone 'Off Grid' at Solar Power Info Session in Cobble Hill
The Dec. 6 meeting is part of the "Solarize Brooklyn CB6: Sun for All" campaign.

COBBLE HILL, BROOKLYN — Residents of Brooklyn are invited to attend a Morning Solar Information Session to learn about the benefits of installing a traditional solar array in their home. The meeting is part of the "Solarize Brooklyn CB6: Sun for All" campaign and will be held at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 6 in the Cobble Hill Community Room at 250 Baltic St.
American Solar Partners (ASP) representatives will discuss everything solar power: how to buy a solar system, how you can save money on your electric bill and how you can take advantage of all the NYC incentives that are currently available, Paige Alderoty, the project manager at American Solar Partners told Patch. Residents are asked to bring a copy of their latest electric bill to the event so they can compare rates.
"Solarize Brooklyn CB6: Sun for All" campaign is working to provide easier and more affordable opportunities for Brooklyn residents and business owners to power up with sunshine. The project first started when the company Here Comes Solar (HCS) aggregated solar-interested homeowners in Community Board 6. They guided them on what to expect when purchasing a solar system in terms of price, incentives, system size, etc., Alderoty said.

Installers then bid on the entire group of projects, and chose American Solar Partners. The project enables installers to get a discounted price because of the size of the group and the convenience that they all live within walking distance of each other.
American Solar Partners decided to open up the project to all of Brooklyn to give more residents the opportunity to join the group and get the group discount. The larger the group of homeowners gets, the further the discount becomes for the entire group. Brooklyn homeowners have until Feb. 1 to sign up for the project.
