Shuttered Joe's Restaurant to be Replaced by 16 Handles Frozen Yogurt

The chain frozen yogurt shop is in the process of moving into 349 Court Street, the former home of Joe's Restaurant.

A few months ago, decades old eatery on Court Street closed, and now Pardon Me for Asking reports that it will be replaced by 16 Handles, a frozen yogurt franchise.

Katia Kelly, the blog’s author, says that “a quick glimpse inside revealed white plastic benches and chairs and bright green walls,” calling the décor “sterile.”

16 Handles has locations mostly in the northeast, with two other Brooklyn locations in Williamsburg and Midwood. According to their web site, all of their yogurt is kosher and fat free, featuring cornstarch spoons and biodegradable cups. 16 Handles also pledges to plant 16 trees per day for each location they open – they are up to about 68,000 planted.

According to an earlier post on Pardon Me for Asking, Joe’s Restaurant’s owners expanded their menu and hours in May 2010, holding a public tasting right in front of the eatery, which featured their new offerings and gave new neighbors a chance to meet the chefs.
