• Fatal pedestrian crash in Champion in Jefferson County: What we know (newyorkupstate.com) — A Carthage man driving on State Route 126 struck and killed a Watertown pedestrian early Tuesday morning in the town of Champion, according to state police. Troopers from the Carthage barracks, West Carthage firefighters, Carthage Area Rescue, and county deputies all responded, and investigators say the victim was walking in the roadway in dark clothing as the probe continues.
   

• ASC Pipeline: Mount Sinai Opens Long Island Surgery Center; Cedars-Sinai, Torrance Memorial Plan Orthopedic ASC (ascnews.com) — Residents who rely on Carthage Area Hospital should know its parent company, North Star Health Alliance, is in bankruptcy and moving to close an affiliated ambulatory surgery center in Watertown. While other surgery centers open nationwide, local patients and nurses have voiced concern that losing this ASC could strain operating rooms at Carthage and other North Country hospitals as regulators weigh final approval.
