Center Moriches School District Completes Facility Upgrades to Enhance Learning Environments

The Center Moriches School District has completed a series of facility upgrades and maintenance projects throughout the school year aimed at enhancing learning spaces, improving safety, and maintaining school buildings for students and staff. By utilizing in-house expertise for many of the improvements, the District reduced costs and ensured a timely and efficient project completion.

District maintenance and facilities teams completed several smaller-scale improvements across school buildings, totaling $7,150. These projects included:

• Renovations to the boardroom to refresh a space used for meetings and District events
• Deep cleaning of exterior bleachers to improve safety and appearance for spectators
• Updates to the elementary APR, enhancing a multipurpose space used for assemblies and student activities
• Improvements to the elementary main lobby, creating a more welcoming entrance for students and visitors
• Upgrades to the high school cafeteria floor to maintain durability and appearance
• Enhancements to the high school main office to support administrative operations
• Installation of new kindergarten classroom counters to improve functionality for younger learners
• Painting of exterior gym doors to refresh building entrances and protect surfaces
• Renovation of some secondary display cabinets to better showcase student achievements
• Updates to the Unkechaug Resource Room to enhance a student support space
• Installation of a new water spigot at the District Office to improve maintenance access

In addition, the District partnered with external contractors to complete several larger capital and infrastructure projects totaling $1,571,000. These projects included:

• Auditorium renovations funded through the District’s Capital Reserve, modernizing a key performance and community space
• Boiler section replacement to improve heating reliability and system efficiency
• Elementary bathroom renovations, funded through a Capital Outlay Project, enhancing facilities for students and staff
• Improvements to elementary walkways to increase accessibility and safety
• Removal of a propane tank to address infrastructure needs and enhance site safety
