Center Moriches School District Celebrates ‘The Melting Pot of America’

The Center Moriches School District hosted “The Melting Pot of America,” a free community celebration honoring America’s 250th anniversary. The event brought together students, families and community members for an evening filled with live entertainment, educational activities, and community engagement.

Held as a celebration of American history and inclusivity, the event featured musical performances by students, hands-on arts and crafts activities, interactive educational exhibits of different cultures, and a variety of food trucks for attendees to enjoy throughout the evening. The District was especially grateful to the Center Moriches Parent Teacher Organization for its generous financial support, dedication, and hands-on contributions that helped make the event possible. The organization’s continued commitment to enriching opportunities for students and the school community played an important role in the success of the celebration.

Families explored displays and activities highlighting different aspects of American history and culture, while students showcased their talents during live performances on stage. The community also gathered to watch a traditional dance performance by members of the Unkechaug Nation. Children also participated in patriotic and culturally themed arts and crafts projects alongside friends and family members.

“‘The Melting Pot of America’ was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together to celebrate the rich history, inclusivity, and spirit that define our nation,” Dr. Ricardo Soto, superintendent of the Center Moriches School District said. “Seeing our students share their talents and engage with their community in such meaningful ways made the evening truly special.”
