Center Moriches High School Holds Festive Homecoming Parade

The Center Moriches community lined the streets on Friday, September 25, for the school's annual Homecoming Parade, a cherished tradition that went off without a hitch just before bad weather rolled into the area. Students, families, staff and neighbors gathered to cheer on the District's four high school classes, each of which showcased a creatively themed float, along with this year's homecoming court.

"Homecoming is one of the moments that truly shows who we are as a community, and this year's parade was no different," said Dr. Ricardo Soto, Superintendent of Schools. "Our students poured so much creativity and teamwork into their floats, from Super Mario to the Minions to Jaws and Jurassic Park. I want to congratulate every member of our homecoming court, thank the families, staff and volunteers who made the day possible, and thank our community for coming out to celebrate."

Each class spent weeks planning and building its Universal Studios-themed float; the results showcased the imagination of Center Moriches students. Freshmen made a strong debut with a Super Mario Bros. theme, bringing the classic video game world to life on the parade route. Sophomores delighted spectators of all ages with a Minions theme full of bright yellow fun. Juniors brought a summer feel to the fall parade with a Jaws theme. Seniors closed out their final homecoming parade in a big way with an impressive Jurassic Park themed float.

For homecoming spirit, the competition throughout the building was fierce, with each class earning points across three competitions: Hallway Decorating (25%), Daily Spirit Participation (25%) and Parade Float (50%). When all the points were tallied, the seniors had swept every category to claim this year's Homecoming Championship.

The District extends its warmest congratulations to the members of the 2026 Homecoming Court, who were recognized by their classmates for their school spirit, leadership and character:

• Homecoming King and Queen: Jimmy Carrano and Brianna Freck
• Homecoming Court: Liam Cressy, Gavin Javetski, Marquis Miles, Sara Amaya, Gabriella Dunn and Emmie Hiller

The District also thanks the class advisors for their hard work and dedication in guiding students through homecoming week:

• Junior Class (Jaws): Maddie Hoffer and Joe Fey
• Sophomore Class (Despicable Me): Brett O'Brien and Ian Leary
