Clayton Huey Elementary School Hosts Bubble Fun Run

Clayton Huey Elementary School in Center Moriches recently celebrated the success of its first Bubble Fun Run fundraiser, surpassing its $5,000 fundraising goal thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of students, families, and staff. Proceeds from the event will help support the purchase of new playground equipment, including a new slide for the school playground, enhancing outdoor play opportunities for students for years to come.

“Events like the Bubble Fun Run are a wonderful reflection of our school community coming together in support of a shared goal,” said Dr. Nicole Fernandez, Clayton Huey Elementary School principal. “We are incredibly proud of our students, families and staff for their enthusiasm and generosity!”

Hosted by the school’s physical education department—with assistance from the PTO and special area teachers—the fundraiser brought together Clayton Huey students for a fun-filled day of fitness and school spirit. Throughout the event, students participated in grade-level runs during their time slots, with younger students in kindergarten through second grade taking part in a track meet-style experience while older students completed a course modeled after a shorter 5K run.

Students showed school spirit by wearing their school-issued shirts, and they enjoyed running alongside their classmates through bubbles while a live DJ played music. The event also featured an inflatable start-and-finish archway, decorations, a bubble machine, and special prizes for participants and top-earning classes. All students received prizes upon completing the run.

Top individual fundraisers were recognized with Dick’s Sporting Goods gift cards, and families who contributed more than $500 will be recognized with engraved name plaques to be displayed on the new playground slide. Grade-level competition winners celebrated with ice pop parties.
