Police ID Man Killed In Sunrise Highway Crash
A car slid off the roadway and hit a tree; the fatal crash shut down the eastbound lane Sunrise Highway for several hours: FD.

CENTER MORICHES, NY — Police have identified the man who died in a Thursday morning single-vehicle crash on Sunrise Highway as Salvador Zarate-Mozo, 46, of Bay Shore.
According to Suffolk County Police, the crash took place on eastbound Sunrise Highway, east of Exit 59, in Center Moriches at 5:25 a.m.
Zarate-Mozo was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima eastbound on Sunrise Highway, east of exit 59, when his vehicle left the road and struck a tree on the south side of the road, police said.

Zarate-Mozo was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His passenger, Jose Ferreira-Cruz, 57, was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Sunrise Highway was closed eastbound at Wading River Road for several hours while police conducted their investigation, the Center Moriches Fire Department said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
