LONG ISLAND, NY — A Long Island musician recently found a creative way to bring joy to people and share his music during coronavirus pandemic. Center Moriches resident John Sapineza works as a teacher by day, but is also a working musician on weekends. He has been playing in bands in Long Island his whole life and always loves to perform.

However, after all his gigs started getting cancelled due to the virus, he had to find a new way to perform. He decided to post videos of him singing his songs and playing the guitar on his Facebook page to try to entertain his friends and family. He figured it was a good way to "settle his bug" to play music. Little did he know that his online performances will soon receive thousands of views.

"Many people have expressed their thanks and are now even looking forward to my daily performance, which is super humbling," Sapeinza told Patch. "If my videos can provide a little solace for people right now then that’s amazing and I’ll try to keep them coming."

He started to post the videos last week on his page, and has appeared to gain some fans in the process.

"These videos have become the highlight of my day," one Facebook user commented.

Sapineza says that he hopes when all this is over, more people will come to see his live show.

"If that’s the only payment I receive, it would be awesome," he wrote.
