Local Lasses Step Dance In NYC St. Patrick's Parade

"These are the moments where lifetime memories are made." Girls from Southampton, Peconic, and East Moriches made their hometowns proud!

EAST MORICHES, NY — Irish eyes were smiling with pride Sunday as a group of local girls marched — or rather, danced —their way into hearts as they performed in the NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The girls marched with the Irish Dancing and Music Association of North America, said proud mom Cynthia Cichanowicz. "They've been practicing every Sunday for the past five weeks at Forest Hills high school in Queens."

The talented lasses included Naomi Cichanowicz, 14, of Peconic, Chloe Phillips, 13, of Southampton and Katie O’Connor, 13, from East Moriches.

Mom Danielle O’Connor, whose husband Jim is in the FDNY, three years ago, was able to secure a spot for the girls with the organization.

“The girls have worked tirelessly these last five weeks to prepare for the parade," O'Connor said. "They also recently competed in Ireland in October! They have made countless friends over the years. These are the moments where lifetime memories are made."
