Man Charged With DWI After Crash With Serious Injuries On Valentine's Day: Police

A woman is being treated for serious injuries, police say.

MORICHES, NY — A Manorville man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash that seriously injured a woman on Valentine's Day, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place on East Moriches Boulevard, at Locust Avenue, at 8:30 p.m.

Zachary Kollegger, 37, was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse westbound when he lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and crashed into a wooded area, police said.

Kollegger and his passenger, Kristin Regina, 34, of Manorville, were both transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, then transferred to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where Regina is being treated for serious injuries and Kollegger is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Kollegger was arrested and charged with DWI; he will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date, police said.
