RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK— Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) has announced that Dr. Brian McKenna, renowned Obstetrician and Gynecologist of over thirty years, will be joining Northwell Health’s Eastern Region as Managing Director of Women’s Health to address women’s health care needs in eastern Suffolk County. Bringing Dr. McKenna on board is a significant step in the hospital’s ongoing mission to advance women’s health services in the region and make high-quality care more accessible to residents throughout Suffolk County.

“Dr. McKenna brings decades of experience enhancing women’s health care, and we are thrilled to have him as a part of PBMC to help expand the women’s health services we are able to provide,” said Dr. Amy Loeb, executive director of PBMC. “Dr. McKenna brings an understanding that women’s health care incorporates every facet of women’s health. Throughout the teenage years to menopause and beyond, Dr. McKenna is there to ensure that a patient’s needs are being met.”

As the Managing Director of Women’s Health, the initial phase of Dr. McKenna’s plan to elevate women’s healthcare on the East End includes expanding labor and delivery facilities and recruiting personnel and clinicians at PBMC. Further, Dr. McKenna intends to grow advanced care for the region through the recruitment of experts in maternal-fetal medicine and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. This expansion will complement the growing breast medicine and urogynecology programs already at Peconic Bay Medical Center.

The transformed department would feature fertility experts and menopause specialists, managing any medical issue that may emerge over the course of a women’s lifetime. Dr. McKenna will also incorporate mental health providers into OB/GYN practices to address any mental health issues that may arise in a woman’s life, such as postpartum depression, anxiety disorders and stress. In addition, Dr. McKenna and the PBMC team will be conducting a comprehensive educational series throughout Suffolk County to educate women of all ages about health screenings and insight into medical care. The first event will be a Facebook Live Q&A with Dr. McKenna and Amy Loeb. This will be livestreamed on Thursday, June 30th at 2:30pm to PBMC’s Facebook page.

“Peconic Bay Medical Center has a special team of talented physicians, and I’m excited to join Dr. Loeb in the effort to advance women’s healthcare and increase access to medical services throughout the North Fork and beyond,” said Dr. McKenna.
