Suffolk Federal Credit Union Donates 1,100 Pounds of Food

Suffolk Federal Credit Union announced a donation of 1,100 pounds of nonperishable food to Helping Makes U Happy, a charity that aids the underprivileged in the community. In addition, Suffolk Federal and its members presented the organization with a $1,000 check.

As a community-focused credit union, Suffolk Federal has a tradition of contributing food and funds to nonprofit organizations that assist residents throughout Long Island. “The response to our recent drive, which enabled us to collect a record amount of food, underscores our commitment to helping those who face difficulties,” said Michele Dean, President & CEO of Suffolk Federal Credit Union. “This donation and Helping Makes U Happy’s valuable work will ease the burden for many people in our communities as they struggle with economic setbacks.”

Based in Center Moriches, Helping Makes U Happy aims to inspire people to make a difference through volunteering, which enriches the lives of not only those less fortunate but their own lives as well. The nonprofit organization was founded in 2015 by Keith Caputo, an individual with Down’s Syndrome whose mentor was committed to helping others.

Mr. Caputo commented, “Suffolk Federal is an outstanding partner that gives back so much to the community. They clearly understand that helping makes not only the people who receive help happier, but also those who contribute and volunteer.”
