• Court records: Man accused of breaking into parents' home before deadly fire (newsbreak.com) — Central Islip residents are learning more about a devastating house fire on East Cherry Street, where police say a Brooklyn man broke into his parents' home, set it ablaze, and two dogs died despite rescue attempts. Five officers suffered smoke inhalation, multiple fire departments responded, and the suspect now faces arson and burglary charges after pleading not guilty in Central Islip court.
   

• Bay Shore woman pleads guilty in deadly stabbing of former boyfriend: DA (pix11.com) — A Bay Shore woman has pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the fatal 2025 stabbing of her former boyfriend, a 47-year-old Central Islip resident, after following him from the Bay Shore train station. Prosecutors say she confronted him over their past relationship, stabbed him once in the chest, and left the knife nearby, and she now faces 15 to 25 years at sentencing in January.
