Help Name Central Park's New Mascot: A Stuffed Chipmunk
The Central Park Conservancy is letting the internet decide the name of its newest Central Park Pal. Five voters will win a free chipmunk.
CENTRAL PARK, NY — The Central Park Conservancy is rolling out a new addition to its line of stuffed animals, and it wants people on the internet to help name it.
Voters will have until Sept. 12 to name the park's newest mascot, an adorable stuffed chipmunk. The new animal will join current park mascots Meadow the Sheep, Parker the Dog, Belvedere the Squirrel and Olmsted the Owl. To snag one of these animals all you have to do is donate $25 or more to the park.
But don't worry, the park isn't putting full faith in the hands of internet dwellers — which once named a research ship "Boaty McBoatface." Voters will be able to chose the chipmunk's new name from four options — Chip, Checkers, Del or Archie.

Unfortunately for all the trolls out there, write-ins are not accepted. But that isn't stopping people from posting suggestions to the group's Facebook post. So far, commenters have suggested names such as "peanut," "Chunky," "Munk" and of course "Chiptrump."
