CENTRAL PARK, NY — A woman ripped off a mugger's shirt Monday morning in Central Park when she was robbed while jogging, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

The 45-year-old woman was jogging near Central Drive and the 65th Street Transverse shortly after 5 a.m. when she was approached by an unknown man, police told Patch. The man attempted to grab the woman's iPhone when a struggle ensued, police said.

During the fight the woman managed to tear the robber's shirt off, but the man still got away with her cellphone, police told Patch. The woman suffered minor injuries during the mugging but refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.
