Pedestrian Dies Days After Being Struck By Cyclist In Central Park: NYPD
The man suffered a severe head injury in the Wednesday morning collision on West Drive, police said.
CENTRAL PARK, NY — A pedestrian died Sunday, four days after a bicyclist struck him on Central Park’s West Drive, police said.
Richard M. O’Brien, 41, of Port Jefferson Station, was walking in the roadway near West 84th Street at about 6:36 a.m. Wednesday, when a northbound cyclist struck him, according to the NYPD. O’Brien fell and suffered a severe head injury.
Paramedics took O’Brien to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he died Sunday, Sept. 27, police said.

The 32-year-old cyclist was thrown from his bike and suffered minor injuries. He was treated at the scene, according to police.
The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
