Soaking Rain, Gusty Winds Set To Drench NYC: See Timeline
New York City will see more than an inch of rain this weekend, forecasters said.
NEW YORK CITY — A soaking rain is on tap for the city this weekend, with steady rain expected to roll in Saturday and linger into early Sunday, delivering more than an inch of rain to the metro area, forecasters said.
According to the National Weather Service, Clouds will thicken overnight on Friday, and the wet weather will ramp up Saturday morning, with a 90 percent chance of rain after 8 a.m. and continuing through the day.
For Saturday, temperatures are expected to dip into the mid-40s by the afternoon, accompanied by gusty winds around 15 mph. Forecasters say between a half inch and three-quarters of an inch of rain could fall by Saturday night, the National Weather Service said.

Rain is expected to continue overnight into Sunday morning before tapering off. Skies should begin to clear later Sunday afternoon, with a high near 51 degrees, according to the forecasters.

The start of the workweek brings a break from the rain, but more showers could return by Tuesday afternoon and linger through the week.

Saturday: Rain, mainly after 8 a.m. Temperature falling to around 44 by 4 p.m. Southeast wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.
Saturday night: Rain. Low around 44. East wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.
Sunday: Rain likely, mainly before 8 am. Partly sunny, with a high near 51. Northeast wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 50.
