Summer Concert Series Brings Big Names To Central Park
Summer has arrived in New York City, and it's bringing with it the annual tradition of free concerts in city parks.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — As the summer arrives, New Yorkers are getting ready for what comes with the season — free concerts in city parks. Perhaps no concert series draws as many big-name musicians as Good Morning America's summer concert series in Central Park, which kicks off Friday with a performance by Green Day.
This summer will mark the ninth straight year Good Morning America's concert series is held in Central Park's Rumsey Playfield, according to the Central Park Conservancy. All but two of the concerts are free to the public and take place in the morning, generally from 7-9 a.m., according to the park.
Because concerts can get packed, it's suggested that you arrive at the park when it opens at 6 a.m. to get a good viewing spot.

The SummerStage concert series — which hosts free concerts in a number of city parks, including Central Park — kicks off on June 3 with a performance by Mavis Staples, Toshi Reagon and Biglovely Good Music, according to the City Parks Foundation.
"SummerStage is the largest FREE performing arts festival in New York City," according to its website. "By presenting artists and genres that reflect the diverse cultures and communities in neighborhood parks across the five boroughs, we help to build new audiences and foster a broader interest in the arts."
