Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Expected Across NYC: See Timeline
Rain and possible thunderstorms are expected later this week, forecasters said.
NEW YORK CITY — New Yorkers should prepare for wet weather and thunderstorms beginning overnight and continuing through Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Showers are expected to develop on Wednesday evening, with thunderstorms likely after 2 a.m., with winds that gust up to 26 mph. Rainfall totals are expected to remain under a tenth of an inch, though thunderstorms could bring heavier downpours.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue Thursday morning before tapering off at times during the afternoon. Additional showers and storms could redevelop after 2 p.m. High temperatures are expected to reach about 66 degrees.

Wednesday night: A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. Low around 56. South wind 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11 a.m., then showers likely between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 66. South wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph.
Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Northwest wind around 8 mph.
