YONKERS, NY — August 14, 2026 — The Polly Cooper Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) proudly presented the DAR Excellence in Historic Preservation Award to Rowan Tucker at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers.
The award was presented by Kim McCrea, Polly Cooper Chapter Historian and Historic Preservation Chair, with Rosemarie Schmidt, Honorary Polly Cooper Chapter Regent.
The DAR Excellence in Historic Preservation Award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to preserving and promoting local history. Tucker was selected in recognition of his exceptional dedication, historical knowledge, and eight years of volunteer service to the Hudson River Museum.
Tucker began volunteering at the museum eight years ago through its student docent program. Since then, he has devoted countless hours to the museum, sharing its collections and history with visitors and contributing to the preservation and interpretation of this important Westchester cultural institution. His enthusiasm for history and commitment to the museum have made him an invaluable member of its volunteer team.
During the presentation, McCrea praised Tucker's dedication, saying, "Rowan Tucker has shown that he is very knowledgeable and extremely dedicated to history. His love for history shines through during his exemplary tours of the museum and through the hours of personal time he has devoted to preserving and supporting the museum through his numerous contributions."
She congratulated Tucker on receiving the award and extended her best wishes as he continues to pursue his educational, professional, and personal goals.
