• 7 New York Hiking Trails Locals Avoid In Summer And Fall Because Of Active Black Bears (takingthekids.com) — If you walk or bike the North County Trailway through Chappaqua and New Castle, you're sharing it with regularly sighted black bears, especially in summer and fall. Police have issued multiple advisories after bears appeared right on the paved path, urging residents to keep kids and pets close, secure garbage and bird feeders, and avoid leaving food along the trail to prevent dangerous habituation.
