Snow or shine, high school students will get a chance tomorrow, Oct. 30, to show off their powerful strokes and strong footwork, and learn about often overlooked opportunities to play college tennis from coaches at USTA Eastern’s 25th Annual College Showcase Day.
The Showcase, which will be held on indoor tennis courts at Saw Mill Club in Mount Kisco, NY, is designed to reach the thousands of students who want to play tennis after graduation.
At the event, high school juniors will get a chance to participate in drills and attend special workshops. High school seniors will play in a round robin tournament, have lunch with college coaches and attend a College Showcase.

“For 25 years, the College Showcase has been a great opportunity for students who want to play on a college tennis team, but don’t know where, or how to get there,” said Julie Bliss, Director of Competition and Player Development for USTA Eastern. “And we look forward to helping students learn about the opportunities that are out there and get noticed by college coaches.”
Saw Mill Club is also excited to host the event, which it hopes will open doors for high school students to continue to play the sport for a lifetime. In May, the club hosted TennisFest 2011, a free day of tennis activities for players of all ages and abilities organized by the United States Professional Tennis Association – Eastern Division and sponsored by USTA Eastern.

“We are honored to be hosting the 25th Annual College Showcase Day,” said Kevin Kane, Vice President of Saw Mill Club. “It is just a terrific event that really works for the kids. Not only is it a great way for students to learn about college tennis in an effective way, but it is also a chance for parents to learn about the breadth of programs for players of all ages and abilities to enjoy the sport.”
