Cornell Cooperative Extension is urging residents to scout vulnerable areas, remove infected plants quickly, and consider resistant varieties and approved fungicides to help stop this fast‑spreading disease from wiping out gardens and fields.
   

2. Silver Creek Woman Charged After Alleged Altercation Involving Children (wnynewsnow.com) — Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies recently responded to a late‑night altercation at a Silver Creek home, where a woman is accused of obstructing another person's breathing while children were present. The 45‑year‑old was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment and faces charges of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and endangering the welfare of a child.
   

3. Kentucky Man Charged With Criminal Trespass in Ripley (wnynewsnow.com) — A Kentucky man has been charged with second-degree criminal trespass after Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies say he was found unlawfully inside a garage on Shortman Road in the Town of Ripley early Friday morning. Deputies issued him an appearance ticket, and he's expected in Ripley Town Court at a later date, with all charges remaining allegations at this stage.
   

4. JCC, YMCA host grand opening of The JAY Wellness Center (post-journal.com) — A major new wellness and athletics hub has opened at Jamestown Community College's Jamestown campus, with leaders saying it will boost quality of life and jobs across Chautauqua County. The JAY Wellness Center consolidates YMCA fitness services now and will eventually add a large health and wellness complex, an early learning center for over 100 children, and upgraded turf athletic fields.
