• KeyBank on French Road in Cheektowaga robbed, no arrests (wivb.com) — Cheektowaga residents should know that the KeyBank on French Road was robbed Tuesday afternoon by a man who claimed he had a gun and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was hurt, the branch has reopened, and police are asking anyone with information to call them as they continue searching for the suspect.
• 3 Cheektowaga dispatchers suspended over Flock misuse (wivb.com) — Cheektowaga residents should know that three public safety dispatchers have been suspended for allegedly misusing the Flock automated license plate reader system to look up a coworker's plate over several months. The police chief says an intensive internal investigation was launched and that new policies and procedures are being tightened to prevent similar violations and assess any broader impact.
• NYPA awards back $89 million in western and northern New York projects (fingerlakes1.com) — Cheektowaga is set to see a major boost as Niagara Power Transformer plans a more than $71 million expansion that could add 73 permanent jobs and retain 146 positions. NYPA also approved low-cost hydropower for Sigma Advanced Materials in town, part of nearly $6.2 million in Western New York awards aimed at expanding manufacturing and research across the region.
