5th Annual Longest Table Potluck Event Returns To Chelsea

NEW YORK CITY — Hundreds of New Yorkers are expected to gather for the fifth annual Longest Table in Chelsea this weekend.

The event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4, with a block-long table stretching down the middle of West 21st Street for an open-to-all community potluck.

The event will mark the 100th Longest Table gathering of the year. Organizers provide tables and chairs while participants bring food to share, creating an outdoor meal designed to bring neighbors and strangers together and combat loneliness.

The Longest Table launched in Chelsea in 2022 and has since expanded to dozens of cities across the country, with gatherings planned in cities including Paris, Tokyo and Mexico City.

Events frequently partner with community organizations, schools, faith-based groups and cultural institutions.
