5. Broadway composer and singer Duncan Sheik dies at 56 (mercurynews.com) — Tony-winning composer Duncan Sheik has died in Manhattan at 56, just weeks before a new musical featuring his work begins previews at Chelsea's Culture Club venue. The show, Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen, is still slated to start previews September 25 and open October 15, while a Spring Awakening revival remains planned for December on West 43rd Street.
