Man Smashes 18-Year-Old In Head With Brick In Chelsea: NYPD

The attacker was seen casually picking up a brick from a Chelsea street, before randomly attacking an 18-year-old moments later.

CHElSEA, NY — A man smashed an 18-year-old in the face for no apparent reason with a brick in broad daylight Monday in Chelsea, police said.

A man walked up to the victim and — without provocation — hit him in the face with a brick about 11:30 a.m. in front of 452 W. 20th St. (between Ninth and 10th Avenues), police said.

The attacker then fled the Chelsea street, police said.

The 18-year-old suffered a "severe injury to his face" and was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital in stable condition, police said.
