The Tigers then fell 3-0 to La Salle Institute on Sept. 29, a tough stretch that still comes against some of the stronger programs in New Yorkās rankings.

2. Cohoes man pleads guilty to illegally selling firearm (dailygazette.com) ā A 32-year-old Cohoes resident has pleaded guilty to illegally selling an assault rifle and handgun to undercover state troopers after a months-long Capital Region gun investigation. He was arrested at his Delaware Avenue apartment in Cohoes, where troopers also reported seizing over 16 pounds of cannabis. He now faces a five-year prison term, with sentencing set for January 6, 2027.

3. Erie Canalway announces winners of 2026 photo contest; Lockport and Buffalo images among top picks (wnymedia.net) ā A winning Erie Canalway photo titled āEagle Crosses Guard Gate 2, Cohoesā earned third place in the āPast Meets Presentā category, putting Cohoes directly in the spotlight of the 2026 contest. The statewide competition drew 302 entries highlighting canal communities from Lockport to Albany, and the selected imagesāincluding the Cohoes shotāwill appear in the 2027 Erie Canalway calendar available starting December 1.

4. 15 arrested in Albany for bank fraud conspiracy (dailygazette.com) ā Cohoes residents should know that their local police department helped federal investigators unravel a large bank fraud scheme tied to a nationwide street gang, with 15 people now facing conspiracy charges. The operation allegedly involved stolen checks, manipulated deposits, and more than $180,000 in illicit gains. Banksā fraud systems and a multi-agency task force, including Cohoes officers, helped limit losses and continue to pursue remaining suspects.
