DIX HILLS, NY — Suffolk County police arrested 2 women Thursday during the execution of a search warrant at a brothel in Dix Hills, police said.
Following community complaints of a brothel operating at 1005 Commack Road, the Human Trafficking Investigations Unit detectives, with assistance from Second Precinct patrol officers and Crime Section officers, launched an investigation, according to police.
Online business listings for the address identified the location as “Hope Enrichment,” an unclaimed preschool listing on Yelp. It is not known whether a school was operating at the location.
Police said detectives executed a search warrant at the location around 12:55 p.m. Thursday.
Maria Marin-Barco, 31, of Flushing, and Andreina Campos-Herrera, 33, of Dix Hills, were each charged with prostitution, police said.
According to police, Marin-Barco and Campos-Herrera advertised services on internet sites.
The women were issued Desk Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.
Detectives seized cash and electronic devices during the investigation, police said.
The Town of Huntington Code Enforcement Department and Fire Marshal also issued several summonses to the homeowner.
