COMMACK, NY — Two Bohemia residents have been arrested in connection with an August robbery at a Commack Chase Bank and are also accused of a string of robberies and an attempted robbery across Suffolk County, police said.
Randy Hill, 48, and Donna Hovanec, 45, were each charged with third-degree robbery in connection with the Aug. 14 robbery at Chase Bank, located at 39 Vanderbilt Motor Parkway in Commack, Suffolk County police said Thursday.
During that robbery, a man entered the bank at about 4:45 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding cash, police previously said. The teller complied, and the man fled on foot.
Police said Hill and Hovanec were also each charged with three counts of first-degree robbery in connection with robberies at:
They were also each charged with first-degree attempted robbery in connection with an Aug. 25 incident at Sunoco Dix Hills Tire and Auto, located at 765 Deer Park Road, police said.
Police did not immediately provide additional details about the alleged robberies or describe how investigators connected Hill and Hovanec to the incidents.
Hill was being held overnight at the Suffolk County Police Department's Fifth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip, police said.
Hovanec will be arraigned at a later date, according to police.
