Annual Gurwin Photo Contest is Now Underway!
Amateur photographers are invited to enter our photo contest - winning entries are enlarged and permanently displayed at the Gurwin Center.

The Annual Gurwin Photo Contest is underway! Now in its 24th year, the Gurwin Photo Contest accepts entries from February 15 through April 15, with winning selections enlarged and displayed permanently at the Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the enjoyment of our residents, family members, volunteers and staff. The photos bring endless pleasure, and the new additions to our Helen and Nat Tiffen Gallery are eagerly anticipated each year.
The Gurwin Photo Contest is unique, in that the winning photos are displayed at the Center for years. More than 700 entries are submitted each year, and rave reviews from photographers and our residents alike have made the Gurwin Photo Contest one of the premier photo contests on Long Island.
The contest is generously sponsored by The Tiffen Company, leading manufacturer of glass filters and other fine products for digital, still, video, motion pictures and television. Their generous support each year enables us to continue to enhance the lives of our residents through the exhibition of these breathtaking photos.

Two new categories were announced this year: New York and Sports/Action, in addition to the original categories photographers may enter: Children, Pets, Wildlife, People, Landscapes, Travel, Still Life, Nature and Altered/Enhanced. In addition, there is a Student Category for students aged 18 or under. Professional photographers serve as judges, selecting winners based on clarity, composition, subject matter and suitability for display. A panel of resident judges will also choose their favorites from a select group chosen by the professional panel. Cash prizes are awarded in each category, and all winners are invited to a gallery opening and reception in June.
