Commack EMTs Help Make Little Girls' Halloween Special
The local volunteers worked together to make an EMT and ambulance costume for two sisters this holiday.

COMMACK, NY - Two Commack girls got a special Halloween surprise, thanks to local first responders with hearts of gold.
Local mom Sari Dreyfus went on Facebook to ask a Commack moms' group about finding an EMT costume for her 6-year-old daughter Ellie.
When an EMS volunteer saw the post, he responded, saying he was going to tell his chief about the request.

"She is super into rescue vehicles and stuff like that," Dreyfus said. "When I asked her what she wanted to be, she was adamant."
In addition, Dreyfus' younger daughter, 3-year-old Jordyn, wanted to go as a ambulance.

As a result, the EMTs volunteered to make both girls special costumes to wear on Halloween.
Ellie got an actual uniform sweatshirt and Jordyn was thrilled to receive a replica of a Commack ambulance, working lights and all.
The EMTs delivered their Halloween gifts of the heart last weekend, using three ambulances and taking them out on a stretcher.
About 20 EMTS came out to see the look on the girls' faces.

"Both were overwhelmed with the fanfare of the delivery but really excited to dress up," Dreyfus said.
