Commack Fire Department To Continue Supply Drive In Anticipation Of Hurricane Irma

The department has already collected 31 pallets of supplies to send to Texas to the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

COMMACK, NY - After the massive success of the supply drive for the victims of Hurricane Harvey, the Commack Fire Department will continue to collect supplies in anticipation of Hurricane Irma.

After less than a week, the department collected 31 pallets full of supplies. Two tractor-trailers full of donations were sent out to Texas on Thursday.

Now, donations will continue to be accepted but will be sent out to the next hurricane, which already hit the Carribean and Puerto Rico and is expected to cause major damage in Florida.

"Many [Commack] residents have ties to Florida," John Bicocchi, President of the Commack Fire Department said. "That's what we do here in Commack, we help out our neighbors not just in Commack but in Texas and Florida too."

The department will collect the same supplies as before including:

  • Blankets
  • Wipes
  • Baby food
  • Canned food
  • Dog and cat food
  • Water
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Shampoo
  • Razors
  • Toothpaste

In addition, donations can still be dropped off 24/7 at the firehouse on 6309 Jericho Turnpike.
