Commack Fire Department Hosts 2nd Annual Barbecue For United Cerebal Palsy of LI
The event was held earlier this month.

The Commack Fire Department recently hosted its 2nd annual Barbecue for the United Cerebal Palsy of Long Island residents and their families.
The event was held at the agency’s Residence on 159 Indian Head Road in Commack on September 17.
“We want the individuals to know that we are here for them in any shape or form, whether it’s an emergency or an event like this one,” Michael Breslin, Commack Fire Department's Life and Fire Safety Educator said.

Attendees spent an afternoon enjoying friends and family as well as food, grilled and prepared by members of the fire department, games, pet therapy and the sounds of the live band, Joe Vicino.
Barry Winter laughed while having lunch with his brother, Jonathan, a UCP of Long Island resident during the barbecue.

“I like this event because all of the individuals really enjoy it,” Winter said. “It’s a beautiful day outside and I think it’s great that the Fire Department is participating.”
Sara Fitzpatrick, a Recreational Therapist at UCP and one of the coordinators of the barbecue, said that she was very happy with the turnout.
“I am so appreciative of all the caring, dedicated people from the Commack Fire Department who returned again this year to make a difference in our individuals’ lives," she said. "They provided a wonderful day for all staff, residents and family members. We are truly grateful to them.”
