A memorial was held for the local officer on the anniversary of his death this past weekend.

The Commack Fire Department recently remembered a local officer on the anniversary of his death on Friday.
The department held a memorial service for Police Officer Charles Oddo who was killed in the line of duty 21 years ago while assigned to NYPD Highway 2.
"While guarding his brother and sister officers from danger at an accident scene, he was taken from us, by a dangerous motorist," Commack FD Chaplain Stephen Muhlenbruck said at the memorial service. "We gather here now to mourn his loss, and to draw inspiration from his sacrifice, so that we may continue to honor his memory, by carrying his mission forward."
