Commack Firefighter Among 7 Killed In Iraq Helicopter Crash

"Chris was always there to help anyone with anything, he would never say no," the department wrote in a message.

COMMACK, NY - A member of the Commack Fire Department died in a helicopter crash in Iraq on Thursday.

The department announced that Christopher Raguso, a New York Air National Guard flight engineer, was one of seven killed after a HH-60 Pave Hawk struck a power line, ABC News reported.

Raguso served as a lieutenant in Commack Fire Department's Company 4 and for the FDNY.

"Chris was always there to help anyone with anything, he would never say no," the department wrote in a message on Facebook. "Please keep Chris and his family in your thoughts and prayer."

In August, Raguso was deployed with the U.S. Air Force 106th Rescue Wing to conduct lifesaving rescues in Texas.

He was interviewed on the Central Texas news outlet, KCEN TV where he provided details from the rescue mission he performed saving infants, toddlers, young adults, elderly people and more.

Raguso was part of a team who helped save people stranded on the roof of a school.
