Commack Glen Ciano Blood Drive Collects 186 Units Of Blood
Annual memorial blood drive adds food donations, drawing strong community participation.

COMMACK, NY — The Commack Fire Department reported strong community turnout at this year’s Glen Ciano Memorial Blood and Food Drive, collecting 186 units of blood during the weekend event on Saturday, Feb. 7.
Each blood donation can help up to three patients, meaning this year’s drive could potentially assist more than 550 people, according to organizers.
In addition to blood donations, participants also contributed about four large cartons of nonperishable food for Long Island Cares, helping support families facing food insecurity across Long Island.

The annual drive honors fallen Suffolk County Police Officer Glen L. Ciano and was held at the Commack Fire Department headquarters. This year marked the first time the event included a food collection component alongside the long-running blood drive.
