Commack School District Releases List of Teachers Excessed

Commack school officials have released the names of those teachers who will be laid off at the end of this June as result of the 2012-13 school budget. 

Commack taxpayers voted to . The budget called for severe cuts to teaching staff, teachers assistants, and custodial staff after these unions failed to reach a compromise with the school district. 

Under the adopted $171 million budget, Commack School District predicted it would have to lay off approximately 37 teachers, one administrator, two secretaries, six custodians and three teaching assistants. However, both the central administrators and secretary staff reached new agreements to prevent layoffs. 

Once Commack school officials have taken into consideration staff retirements, resignations and leave of absences,  the district will be excessing or terminating 29 teachers, two teaching assistants and two custodial staff members.
