COMMACK, NY - A training exercise at a Commack motel caused quite a scare on Saturday morning, according to a report in Newsday.

Firefighters from the Commack, Nesconset, St. James and Smithtown Fire Departments participated in the controlled exercise which involved a large fire at the now closed down Courtesy Inn located on 1126 Jericho Turnpike, Newsday reports.

However, local residents in the area were not aware of the drill at the motel, which is being demolished, causing them to call 911 believing there was a real fire.
